Ten Year Old Child Convicted for Shooting His Father Receives New Sentencing/Divorce Related?

The boy convicted in the shooting death of Dr. Lohstroh, an emergency room doctor, was the boy’s father. He was ten years old at the time of the tragic incident in August of 2004 and the boys mother and father were involved in a highly litigated divorce and custody dispute.

The boy was granted a new trial and in a plea bargain, the boy received new sentencing.

My comment was posted directly on the web site for ABC TV13 and the link is included at the base of this posting.

A retired law enforcement officer, and now a Divorce Coach, I am familiar with the case as is most of the nation. I watched in horror to the circumstances surrounding the case, the shooting and conviction of the child who was ten at the time of the shooting.

This new sentencing represents a correction to the miscarriage of justice that occurred and is more appropriate to the circumstances and causative factors of the shooting which will continue to be debated.

Which is, did the mother of the child provide the means, opportunity and action that resulted in the death of her ex- husband after she alienated the children against him.
