Parent of Divorce Said They Had Given Up Hope

A parent reached out to me. They live outside the United States, the other parent and children live here. They had spent years and thousands of dollars fighting using the Hague Treaty in an effort to move their case back to their country of origin ~ unsuccessfully. I told them why that was not realistic based on the circumstances and what was left of their money. I mapped out a new strategy. They said the other parent won’t work with them. Won’t agree to anything. Within weeks we had an agreement for them to have additional visits with the children. Visits that were not in the court order, without going to court and without using attorneys. Children are excited about the visits. Parent extremely grateful. Said they had given up hope. Said they thought it was impossible. Working on more changes for the client.

“Let us be clear, the removal of fathers from the lives of their children is … public … policy“. -Robert Franklin ICMI-14

Clayton, My apology, your comment and many others were not visible until just a few minutes ago. I am endeavoring to respond to all of them. No child should be denied the ability to have a relationship with both parents, outside a violent criminal history or a parent’s decision to walk away. But absent that should be protected. Gender has no room in the argument.
